Welcome to our family blog

We have moved from our life long home in Idaho. Our whole lives have been turned upside down, and we are feeling a little bit disconnected. This blog is to keep our friends and family updated on what is happening in our lives in Livingston. I have found this site to be very calming and gives me some perspective into my own life. I know that with the help of our Father in Heaven things will work out. He knows what we need. As long as we are faithful and live the Gospel, we will be okay. "Okay" might not be what we have known "okay" to be, so we are also learning about flexibility. Life is a journey, wherever it leads us will be great as long as we are together and do our best in all that we do.

More fun for the boys.....

Practicing their marksmanship skills, and keeping the pesky birds out of our cat food.

We finally got the trampoline set up. Just in time for the boys to go back to Idaho for two weeks. They do love to jump on that thing! And they love to mess with my camera and take random pictures of themselves. It is very entertaining for them.

The boys have been having fun!

We have a creek in the pasture behind the house. The boys have had so much fun catching fish. They even caught one in a trash bag. They have eaten a couple, but most have been returned to the creek.

Can't find Tate. Where could he be?

Iwas working one day, and decided to check on the boys. Being the over-bearing ever-watchful mother that I am, I hadn't seen them for a while. I found Dane watching TV, but still couldn't find Tate. I finally found him, and he was out in the pasture with the horses......Laying on McCrae, who was taking a nap. It was so sweet I had to take pictures to share with everyone!

Yellowstone Park July 5th

Sorry these are out of order. I am catching up, and forgot to add some last night. We did visit Yellowstone on July 5th, and had a great time. We live about 50 miles from Yellowstone, so it's easy to go there and spend the day. We saw all the animals on our list with the exception of moose. We did see elk, deer, bears - both black and grizzly, buffalo, big horn sheep with babies, a wolf.....but no moose. Dang it. Tom was bummed! Anyway, here are a few pictures of our adventures in Yellowstone.

Tom stole my horse!

Tom has officially stolen my horse! He is riding Sisco these days, I think so I will have to ride Riley now. I tried to add this to the last post, but seem to be having some technical difficulties. I am a little frustrated with this blog thing. I can't set it up the way I want it, and it won't do all the stuff I want. Or at least I can't figure it out. I know it will do more, I am just not bright enough to figure it out. I hope it will improve with time! That's all I have for tonight. Will update more when we have more to add. Have a great week!

This was a great trail ride. It was 6 1/2 miles to the lake, and obviously the same back. The trail was great, very gradual, not much that was even hard. The top got a little bit harry, with some bit rocky step ups and but not much else. Not a better way to spend a day. No wrecks, or incidents at all. We did see a wolf when we were driving in to the trail head.

Stillwaugh Family Christmas in July Celebration

The Stillwaugh's
More Stillwaugh's
We went home to Idaho for this party. At Christmas time the Stillwaugh's get together with two other families each year. It is always hard to find a time to get together, so this year they scheduled it for July. It was a fun time to see everyone. It was pretty hot in the Boise valley!

Work, work, work. Getting the barn ready for winter.

We have an old cow shed that we are converting to a winter horse shelter. It has 30 years of accumulated cow manure that we are digging out. Tate is standing in the trench that we dug to put the panels in. Now we have to clean out all the stuff in the middle! What a job!

South side of the shed. It has a lot of character! Not fancy, but functional, and that's all that we need.
East side. The opening is where the horses can go in and out. We stacked hay on the opposite end, and to the right just inside this doorway.
Tate and horses checking out their new digs. It will be nice when the digging is done. Although there will always be more poop to scoop. That's the way it is with horses!!

Haying Season

We've been here for just about a month and Tom is now a farmer. Raking hay to help out the neighbor, and to get a cheaper price for our hay. What a deal! I'm so glad that my Dad shares his old hand-me-downs!! What would we do without our tractor? Thanks Dad!!

Wind rows and bales
Haul it to the barn, and stack it up. Thanks to Rick Corn for letting us use his trailer. It came in very handy!! Delivered back to Middleton in almost the same condition as we borrowed it in.

Livingston 4th of July Parade

Livingston has a great parade each year around the 4th of July. It was a beautiful day this year. One of the warmest since we arrived in town. The parade was attended by a lot of people. It makes the Middleton parade seem quite small! The boys came home with more candy than they have ever gotten at Halloween. They still have quite a bit left over. What a nice way to spend a day!
